Notes 8: Demonstrative Type of Adjectives

The last type is the Demonstrative Type of Adjectives. This type of adjectives can be divided into two parts:

a) Definite demonstrative Adjectives point out some particular objects.
1) He is in THE house.

 
Other Examples:
This book is mine.
That pen is yours.
These books are mine.
Those pens are yours.
I cannot do such a thing as that.
This is the same story as I heard the other day.
b) Indefinite Demonstrative Adjectives do not point out any particular object.

1) He has not ANY brother.
 

Other examples:
He saw me one day in the theater.
A certain man came here.
Some man came here.

Notes 7: Interrogative Type of Adjectives

The fifth type of adjectives is the INTERROGATIVE TYPE (which, whose, what).

For Example:
1. WHICH salad does not have enough sauces?

2) WHAT book are they reading?

Notes 6; Possessive Type of Adjectives

The fourth type is the POSSESSIVE TYPE of adjectives (my,his,their etc)...

For Example:

1) The students in SMK St. Health are very particular about what they consume. Vegetables are THEIR most favourite food.

2) MY car is not red but black in colour

Notes 5: Qualitatitve Type of Adjectives

The third type of adjective that should be learnt is the QUALITATIVE TYPE of adjectives.
(Qualitative: colour, size, smell etc.)

1) Michael is suffering from stomach ache after eating the RED apple.

2) Fahim is the BIG guy with a pair of SMALL eyes

Notes 4: Quantitative Type of Adjectives

The second type of adjectives is the QUANTITATIVE ADJECTIVES such as more, all, some, half, more than enough...

For Example:

1. He has MUCH rice

2. He has NO rice

3. He has SUFFICIENT rice.

The first type of adjectives is NUMERIC adjectives...

  1. There is ONE plate of speghatti below.

2. There are TWO plates of speghatti below. 


3. There are THREE plates of speghatti below.

Now that you have learned what is adjectives, you should also know the types of adjectives available!!!

If you are asked questions with which, whose, what kind, or how many, you need an adjective to be able to answer.
There are different types of adjectives in the English language:
  • Numeric: six, one hundred and one
  • Quantitative: more, all, some, half, more than enough
  • Qualitative: colour, size, smell etc.
  • Possessive: my, his, their, your
  • Interrogative: which, whose, what
  • Demonstrative: this, that, those, these
